Kristin Davis & Nicole Ari Parker on the Next Chapter of “Sex and the City†By Tamron Hall Show
When the groundbreaking TV series Sex in the City premiere in 1998, it showed us the power of connection between friends Carrie, Charlotte Miranda and Samantha weathered life’s ups and downs dating marriage divorce. Even cancer. The show was a touchstone for millions of us and I was right there. That’s why I got my manolos on now. He can’t. That’s right. And became a cultural Phenomenon with watch party, spanning the globe. And now
11 years later, it’s time to once again. Raise our Cosmos ladies and gentlemen, and Toes The long-awaited Sex and the City Revival series. And just like that, which started streaming and midnight on HBO Max where fans can now watch Carrie Miranda, Charlotte navigate life and friendship in their 50s with some fresh new. Awesome faces along for this ride, the more I live.
The more I find that if you have good friends in your corner, anything’s possible, Harry.
I have to believe it his own. The future is Unwritten because we’re all at different stages of life tonight. Bring your A game. How many dating apps are you on? I’m just waiting for someone to create a dating site. That’s called. Here’s the man. You’ve been searching for signal in the words of Carrie. Bradshaw. If you have good friends in your corner. Anything is possible. Please welcome our new good friends. To the champ, am Kristin Davis and one of the newest members of the Catholic,
Ari Parker, I mean Kristen, is it surreal? Yes, Felicia.
Surreal and always but in the most wonderful way. So the last section the city movie 11 years ago. I think. That’s right 2010. Yeah. I’m not trying to a Jess. Okay, we embrace it Tamarin, which is not to set it because I’m 51 years old. I watched every episode of Sex in the City. I’m in Texas, not know what a cosmo was but got to know it very well and that’s what’s so refreshing about this next chapter.
Is that none of us stay one age forever? That’s right. And things change. That’s right. And this storyline captures that Kristen that was our whole goal. That was our whole reason to come back. We wouldn’t come back if we were doing the old show. There’s no reason to redo the old show. We wanted to come back and have it be something that was about now and the future and talk about the things that we’re talking about now in society and change, who is coming to our lives, like Nicole wonderfully.
Yes.
Can you play a new friend of Charlotte? And I can say this because we’re in the trailer together and the way that we meet in the show, which is very similar to life. Is that our kids go to the same school and you know, you grow and you change it, you come in contact with new people and they change your life in your point of view and you have an exchange. That’s what I love about this story line because honestly, you know, you think about these Milestones, your best friend from elementary. Then you get a friend in high school. If you go to college, you get a friend or when you have kids, you become friends, mommy, with the other.
Because of your children, yes, you know what? One of the things and again, we like to be real around here. Cynthia Nixon brought up that one of the failings of the series and the movie was that there was a lack of diversity. Yes. Coming in and representing what the scope of friendship does look like, which is women of different races, different backgrounds bonding. Yeah. In Friendship. What was that? Like did it feel like an extra weight? Well, it felt like it, you know, right on time.
Time, you know that if they were going to come, do the show and bring it be still in the city that the city, you know, demanded in a way that their lives become more diverse, especially as fully realized women. I always tell what are quoted all the time. We’re talking about connection and friendship. There was a quote that said, you know, if you’re drowning you’re not going to look at the hand of the person’s color, the color of the hand that’s pulling you up. You just want the hand to pull you up of course. And that’s friendship. When we come back that we have to talk about the
Chance to talk about the bond and all of the love and hijinks that will happen in this new Incredible chapter of Sex in the City. And just like that. There are always going to be roads. Not taken, so you can have it all. No, you can. It’s just really hard.
You’re not happy with the way you are and just like that. After all the years and all the changes.
You’re still you? Hello lovers.
Welcome back. That was a clip of the much-anticipated Sex in the City Revival series, and just like that streaming today, on HBO Max. I’m so excited to be sitting here talking to two of the stars from the series. Kristin, Davis is returning, of course, it’s a role in Charlotte. And one of the newest cast members, Nicole, Ari, Parker who plays new character, Lisa Todd, wexley of Park Avenue mother of three her joining into this. This group of friends. What does she bring?
I just think that she’s a woman, you know, and it’s a easy. It’s easily to understand why these two women became friends. It’s wonderful. And all the new characters are different and you’re going to recognize all of them. They’re part of most of. If you live in New York City, your friend group. Looks like this was cool about the show, though, is that most people obviously who watched did not live in New York City. Most people don’t
No, lo blahniks. I rented these but the reality is thank you. But the reality is there was something relatable even though you were thousands of miles away from that world. Well for me, it was the Friendship. Yeah, I love the scenes where you all would have your lunches and help each other through a difficult moment in life. And I love that that is still there. This and my sweet, Nicole in the very first episode. I’ve seen that scene the very
first scene that we shot to remember. It’s so good. You’re so beautiful in it. Oh my god. Oh really? What’s wonderful? Is that, you know, of course, I still have my relationship with Carrie and Miranda, but there’s parts of of Charlotte where she needs another mom friend with her, you know, in a different way because Miranda is, we know, is kind of like a tough mom and her character. Nicole’s character Lisa LT W. As we call her. It’s just warm to Charlotte and it’s so beautiful. I can’t listen. I, as I said, I can’t, I’m probably the most excited.
Person around about this series. What it also does, do Kristen is dovetail into real life. I started off the show talking about my friend, losing her father. When you grow up, you start losing people in your life and Willie Garson, of course, instrumental in the show’s popularity you and the cast are still dealing with their real raw pain. There. What is it like for you now to see the clips and what prepared you to see him on screen in this?
Last performance. Well, nothing really, you know, it’s okay, but I’m still not together about it. Obviously, it’s hard because thank you, baby. We were working the whole time, you know, and we didn’t know when we started how sick he was and he didn’t want us to know. So he was just the life, the life of the set as he as he always has been and it was, you know, obviously horrible, the whole chain of events and we miss him in the
If he’s not here, it’s really difficult to tell him. Sorry. I understand that’s very hard. But, you know, we had to work and we knew that he wanted us to work. And I’m so happy that he’s in the first three at least which I’ve seen and he’s so funny and to think what he was dealing with. Well, he’s so funny. It’s really a testament to him Nicole. What was it like joining this family? I mean, listen from the heartbreaking loss of Willy, too.
I’ll be honest again, the women being criticized for aging, which is what you’re supposed to do life. Does that seeing people have such reaction to the actors of this show that we love so much. What was it like joining this family who clearly has each other’s back in the saddest of times but also the celebratory times of finishing this series. Wow, that’s that’s a big question. But first, I’ll say I was a fan of the show too. So my first day on set,
Sit at that lunch table. The my first day was one of the famous lunch scenes and the three of them were so warm. And so generous and so beautiful, like just straight up gorgeous. And it, shocked me that in that beginning, part of the show coming back that everybody was talking about wrinkles and aging and all this stuff and I was thinking
If they were, if you could even be lucky enough to spend five minutes with these three women in real time. You would never say anything like that. Ever in your life. They have built something that has stood, the test of time. I read a quote, by Anna. Magnani. That said, don’t erase my wrinkles. I work too hard for them.
Just be a part of something really well done. Yeah, really. Well done. And and nobody was trying to be, you know, perfect. Yeah, they were holes sometimes because you write a character and then you hire someone to play the character and then everything deepens in the Friendship deepens. So, we had a few moments that what was on the page. We had to find it in real time and we hashed it out. And, you know, we’re all so fragile in the world right now. The so much going on.
On that this show is going to be a slice of Joy. I agree. I agree. I can’t wait. I know but listen you’ve already brought great joy to myself and the tan fan for being here. Thank you so much, Chris, and thank you.
