in this video walkthrough how and why you should limit login attempts and their WordPress website the biggest reason why you should limit them is just simply for The Brute Force attack it’s a simple method that uses the trial-and-error to hack into your website prison now you know why you should limit the number of login attempts let me show you how you can do it quickly see you first thing to do is log in to your WordPress dashboard and from here we’re going to install a plug-in camera going to install is called the limit login attempts reloaded the free version is really all we need to get up and running and it’s typing limit login attempts reloaded and this is the one we want so let’s go ahead and install this now and stick around to activate the plug-in as great ones must activate it we can come over to the left for a limit login attempts and now we need to go to the settings tab to set things up the default setting should be fine for you but will cover a few items of Interest

and then activates and you will get this welcome screen here and it goes over the features and again basically it protects your WordPress site from Brute Force attacks now to access the settings for this plug-in go to the settings menu here and then go to limit login attempts okay here is the setting page is pretty simple first in the general settings if you’re running a website targeting European visitors or have a lot of European traffic than you may want to check this right here for gdpr compliance if you’re in a non-european country and you don’t have a whole lot of European traffic than you don’t need to worry about this and notification on lock out if you want to receive an email every time there is three lockouts or however many number you want so this is optional to answer your email here and this right here active app

really no option besides Loco if you want to upgrade to the the crowd app you can do so but it’s not necessary now down here under the app setting this is where the actual limiting of the Brute Force attack so here for lockout how many tries or retries if you get four failed wheat rice or four failed attempts and you will get a 20-minute locked out and did you get for lockouts you will be locked out for 24 hours and this is for the reset of the three tries say you got one failed attempt and then after 12 hours it resets so you get four more tries or you can do four tries in 1 minutes and get locked out for 20 minutes so anyhow you can change these numbers are you wants or leave it at default this is the recommended values and then the custom map here is for the premium version but for most work
