and let me show you at work rest. Org
you want to install the classic widgets plug-in this is it classic widgets plug-in it’s by the WordPress company it’s an official plug-in and what it will do let me go ahead and install it I’ll click on add new and I’ll type in classic which it’s
I’m going to install this
and I’m going to activate it so once you install and activate classic which its come over to appearance which it’s
and now the witches will look familiar like you’re used to so let me go back and show you one more time I’ll go to the plugins
and I’ll deactivate it and I’ll go to a parent switch it’s
and with WordPress 5.8 the widgets area are is now part of the Gutenberg block editor and if you’re not using the Gutenberg block editor you’re not familiar with it this is going to be confusing but not a problem at all
just install and activate classic widgets
and then when you go to appearance which it’s
then it’s back to the method that you are used to working with
so that’s it that’s one of the new features of WordPress 5.8 called Tatum and I have it written here the widgets area are block which it’s it’s going to look a little bit like this but you can always install the classic widget plug in and then that will get this which it area more familiar to you this is Christina Hills with the website creation Workshop
FIve Stars Thanks for the plugin,
Classic mode is so much more effective/speedy then the new Gutenberg Blocks
Cheers, Ed’
a proof we hate block editors thanks!
This plugin is essential Thank you for providing this, the new block widgets don’t work for me at all as they are incompatible with some widgets I use, and also not easy to add a custom css class.
Essential. Good lord feature creep has infected the widgets area too! Good lord I didn’t realise that feature creep had infected the widgets options too!!
The new block editor widgets are TERRIBLE!
I’ve already updated to wordpress 5.8 on many many sites.
It was only until I had to update a theme that used widgets when I realised how horrible the new way is.
I use the classic editor as well. Luckily classic widgets is available!
(although wordpress really should stop mucking about with what was a good UI/UX)
This is an essential plugin!

Thank goodness! Can’t stand the gutenberg blocks. As a professional who works with code I hate the code bloat and messiness of the block system. Thank goodness for this plugin!
Another plugin to correct wordpress devolutions Some evil minds like to waste our time, spending hours looking for a way to control the display of widgets on specific pages which is no longer possible with this umpteenth devolution.
Thanks for this plugin, as useful as the classic editor, but it’s sad to have to move forward with band-aids, are they going to continue to make wordpress more and more difficult to use?
can’t update your theme, no problem If you have updated wordpress but are unable to update your theme, widget management my break. This plugin will set widgets back to classic buying you time to update your theme and any conflicting older widgets.
It Just Works Thank you for providing this. I have no use for the new layout and prefer the simplicity and speed of the classic version. Hope this does not go away!
Super! Finally! The “Classic Widgets” works great.
Now I can easily compose the widgets. The classic widget is much more clear than the original widgets from WordPress.
Also I don’t have problems with alignment in the footer.
Thank you very much!
thank you! i find the block editor both aggravating & limited
