howdy so a bunch of WordPress themes will do things like we do here on WP shower let’s see a clip into an article I show the author image right up front other things will kind of put it at the end of the article you’ll have an author box sort of like this thing we’ve got down at the bottom that asked you to subscribe and show scary space what these are typically using is your WordPress profile image which is tied to a thing called gravatar so if I come into this normal WordPress that you’ll notice my profile picture says you can change your profile picture on gravatar so if you want to use grab a tarded this works fine you just go sign up to the Grand Vitara service make sure the email address overlaps because grab it are fine to based on your email address and then you’re all good but I want to use that system so instead we have this place where I can come in here and choose either a different picture from the media library or to upload my own photo to replace me and we’re doing
not through a plug-in
called
Simple local avatars so if I search on this page
simple local advertisers by Jake Goldman at 10 opposite version 2.1.1 and if I wanted to install it because I didn’t have it already I would go in and I search for simple local avatars there are a bunch of other plugins that do this to we used to recommend one called I don’t even see it in this list but I forget what it’s called avatars or something like that sample of avatars is very popular very easy does exactly what you’d want and nothing more so if you want to use WordPress author images without gravity for simple local avatars the plug-in we recommend the video the quick guide where we explain how to set that up but otherwise you’re all set have a good day
call Kid Sister of question is it a comparison diagnose

Great plugin I’ve 100+ writers on a news website. It’s was so hard for to everybody create an account in Gravatar. This plugin helps me a lot to upload writer photos from the dashboard.
Hats of the plugin author.

Tremendous plugin Does exactly what it purports to do, cleanly and obviously. If you are looking for a plugin that plays nicely with gravatars but allows you to override them or select/upload an image from the media library, look no further. Essential for sites that publish authors who may not have WP accounts or ever sign into WP admin, but still need avatars/profile images.

I’ve jumped onto this bandwagon too Like many others, WP User Avatars pulled a big “WTF?!” stunt. (I thought my sites got hacked when a bunch of “membership, user registration, user profile” junk showed up)
Anyway, I quickly installed this super easy, no-frills, does-what-it-says-and-nothing-else plugin and wondering why I didn’t find it earlier. I’ve got 17 more sites to swap out 🙂

Doesn’t work when standard Avatars are disabled First I could not make it work.
But I had to enable in WP-settings-discussion the standard avatar.

Nice work, but needs improvement This does work, but has some issues, First it doesn’t remove the default Profile Picture. Meaning you will see 2 sections in the Admin > Users for user photo. This confuses clients. There should be an option to hide the default Profile Picture or it should just do it automatically when this is enabled. Secondly, a minor issue is that the Admin setting for this is under Settings > Discussion. Which is fine, but I use “Disable Comments” which hides Settings > Discussion so I have no way of making Admin settings changes to this. Also most Plugins that have a settings page would have a settings link in the Plugins page underneath it’s name and this does not making it hard to find where the settings page is, but the author does explain this in their documentation.
Does what it’s supposed to, pretty well! Does what it’s supposed to, pretty well! I don’t use any other plugin for this, as Simple Local Avatar has everything I need.
What I would like to see? A way to set a default avatar. For example with the user’s initials incl. setting a background color for the image created this way.
Otherwise very satisfied. The code quality is also great, just because finally PHP classes were used.
I recommend it all the time.
