WordPress bundle Remove Category URL

howdy this is David from w b shot I’m going to explain to you quickly how you can remove categories from the URL of your categories themselves so I’m on a WordPress site a very basic WordPress site and I’ve got a category that is being used to Mark a post this is a common thing I named it category one you could name it essays you could name it recipes whatever you want I’m in SS icon on the female denotes categories are generally kind of the folders as we think about them is the category will have this category segment in the URL and sometimes for various reasons people want to change that or remove it although it’s not specifically our topic you would change that by coming into settings permalinks in your WordPress dashboard and then you have this category vase if I change that to say topics which is the example they give and hit save on that change what will happen is the old your whole break

but if I reload my post and I click to the category I will not see that the category page has a URL structure of my sight then the word topics then the word category one in that matches what I have here what are actual goal is to remove this entirely I want my URL to be site named / category one site named / essay seitan recipes for my sort of recipes index and I can’t do that by default in WordPress I did see some people who implied that if I did this it would work in my experience and experiments I could not get that to work but there are a bunch of plugins to do this whole thing for us very well there’s a couple different names on the people will give this idea I’m no category basis the one I found it seems relatively popular and seemed to work pretty well that’s got a hundred thousand

and now I come back to my dashboard as we know if I refresh I’ll probably get a 404 no I didn’t actually because this plug-in works even better than that so you see now this localhost 88w be simple. Think about it saying example.com and if I go to any category that I have on this post now category 1 or whatever is just going to be right after it so we’ve eliminated the use of categories do it quickly see if I’ve got another post it’s in any category whatsoever this one’s in uncategorised so you can see again my sight now shows example.com categorized so that plug in that I used is called no category based wpml by the sky Marios alexandrou and it works really well for that time when you want to remove the reference to a category from some of the URLs on your site but still have that benefit of being able to put your post and do those folders like tax on Emmy’s
