WordPress has the option to display your recent posts as a widget like this here but as you can see it doesn’t display the featured image or the thumbnail of this post if you want to display your recent posts with thumbnails then first you need to install and activate the recent posts widget with thumbnail plug-in I’ve already installed it but if you need help installing a plugin on your website we have a video explaining how to install a plug-in I’ll link in the description below
first let’s go to appearance and then click on which its
now remove this recent post widget
and drag and drop the recent post with thumbnail widget on your side bar
give this widget a title
and then choose how many posts you want to show from here
now if you want a post link to open in a new tab then check this and check this so that when a user has a post open then that post will not be shown on the sidebar
next choose how you want to order these posts
I’m going to choose random so that whenever you use a refreshes the page different posts are shown
then you can choose how you want to sort them from here
scroll down to the author section
and you can enable this to show the post offer
then here you can enable this to show the post categories
and if you want to show the post date then enable this
now scroll all the way down and click on Save
and let’s go to the site I’m just going to reload this page

Awesome widget plugin I have been looking for this type of widget for years, so glad someone developed it. Yay. Finally a way to only post content from certain categories in the sidebar and it comes with thumbnails too and tons of ways to customize without having to hack the plugin! Awesome widget plugin that works like a charm. Thank you.
The Best Disappointed in myself I didn’t find this sooner! This plugin has everything you could ever want from a widget. I’ve previously used several widgets to do very poorly what this one widget does amazingly well all by itself. This widget is in a league of its own. Developer responds to any questions immediately.

Beautiful widget with a lot of flexibility This is an absolutely beautiful plugin that yoou can customize a lot. While there are a few extra things I would love to see in this plugin, it can already do so much. If you want to have, for example, a sidebar that shows posts that have a lot of comments in a short amount of time, you can do that with this plugin!
I cannot imagine using any different plugin for this goal and I will likely use this on any website that is post heavy.
