Don’t bother; plugin should be discontinued I’ve tried to use this to sync with Square as the system of record and it does not “sync” by any stretch of the imagination. This is a completely untrustworthy plugin.
Common errors/problems include
Failed and partial syncs
Changing the inventory to 0 in Woocommerce when there is inventory in Square
Unfortunately, if you operate a bricks and mortar + online retail business, and need to have accurate data in your online store, I’d recommend you do manual updates.
I’d also add that I worked with Woocommerce support from early Feb 2021 until late July 2021 to try to resolve the issues, but most of the time their support staff seemed to fail to read the support threads, and asked me to repeat the same problem solving steps over and over. So, support for this was atrocious.
Woocommerce Square should be deleted YES! Struggling for more than 12 hours and am still unable to figure it out. Woo is good but they should delete this plugin. You are defaming yourself.
Works well Have implemented successfully without too much trouble. The only downside so far is the lack of support for gift cards (which are supported by other WooCommerce Square plugins – so is odd that the official plugin does not provide support for these)
Lackluster plugin, dismal support The only reason I give this two stars is because the Square gateway works. However, we’ve tried using the Apple Pay feature and it does not work. We reached out to support, we’ve had support threads marked resolved that weren’t resolved, and we’ve jumped through hoops giving them status reports, login credentials, and answering questions but they’ve not provided any meaningful support at all. Plugins like this and support responses like this are why so many people are making the switch to Shopify. Avoid using this plugin if you can, but if you must then don’t count on Apple Pay working and definitely don’t count on meaningful support. This is very disappointing and perhaps a litmus test of why so many ecommerce merchants are migrating away from WordPress.
Not Consistent Sometimes it works. Sometimes it does not. Inventory sync is not accurate. Logs show all is working fine.
When products are removed on the square side, they remain in WooCommerce.
Please delete this plugin. First, the installation went smoothly but that’s it. It’s the configuration and internal requirements that are untenable.
There’s no way to push a product sync. I’ve checked the ‘sync with square’ boxes in the product listings, checked my Square dashboard and there’s nothing. Support tells me to contact Woo “for more insight”. That’s fair, Woo wrote the plugin/extension. There’s nothing in the Woo Payments tab under Integrations, and the Square tab doesn’t offer the sync option.
For some reason, Square requires you to manage YOUR inventory on THEIR site. Even if you have selected the option to not track inventory, you must still list something (I recommend 1,000,000 so you can fill it out and forget about it) as long as it’s blank or non-zero.
Secondly, even if you pick Woo as the inventory authority, according to support, you still have to maintain inventory counts in square. (Hence the recommendation for 1,000,000 of everything.)
Stripe was a breeze to install, configure and use for woo. Square could take a few lessons here. Actually, all the lessons. Deleted plugin and closed square account.
Whoever commented that this plugin should be deleted wasn’t joking.
Waste of time and money Ive worked over a year with this plugin and I regret it.
Not working correctly, half the plugin is made in Javascript, so it cant be overwritted in PHP.
Works perfectly for me so far Though the documentation needs a good rewrite, if you follow the instructions closely, it will work well. Not saying it will work for every scenario. I have about 100 products, both a brick and mortar and online store, and the products all have only one category. Here’s what I did and what it does for me:
First I set it up as a payment gateway only, without syncing. That worked beautifully.
Then I set up syncing. With Square as my system of record, and product syncing turned on in both the plugin settings AND the individual product settings, it now syncs inventory from Square to Woocommerce, and transactions from Woocommerce back to Square.
Be sure Woocommerce is set to manage inventory [Woocommerce Setting/Products/Inventory/Enable Stock Management].
At first, after all the settings were correct, it didn’t sync. I had to manually sync once (Settings/Square/Update/Sync now). After that it has been syncing as expected.
If you have further problems, be sure to read the FAQs and Troubleshooting carefully.
If your small enough it SHOULD work For months this plugin never worked 100%. Manual sync would work maybe 1 out of 10 tries and would take several hours to complete or finally fail. I Couldn’t get any straight answers except to deactivate other plugins and use a different theme because there may be a conflict. Seems to be the go to method to fix anything woocommerce. I have a large inventory 7000ish items. Not all are always in stock but for SEO reasons don’t want to delete items. Finally after reading help for other plugins the sync inventory not related to square I figured they all have to work somewhat the same and the customer service said the item count may be the issue. So today I unchecked the sync items to square in about 4000 items ran manual sync again and BOOM! it worked. No errors no failures no nothing. Added a few more items BOOM! it worked again no errors not nothing added a few more and still working. So how many items is to much for this plugin to handle is the question? Im sure the answer will be something to do with the server memory or specs of my host but I am running pretty decent specs on a unshared server and even had my hosting company temporary upgrade me to a max server to test and still never worked correctly. So my suggestion if you use this plugin stay SMALL. But now I am on the hunt for a better system to integrate with woocommerce and my brick and mortar store.
Failed plugin I really like the Square website, but I can’t use it because this plugin is completely unreliable. Take a hint, Square, and find someone to create a new plugin from scratch.
