here’s the JavaScript code that we will be adding to our website we find that most sites gently place discuss at the end of the article page to let’s take a closer look there three parts to the embed code we wanted to highlight first the discuss the red div this is where the comment box is dynamically loaded onto the page to make sure to include it above the embed script as shown here next make sure you update the line containing in bed. JS with your sights short name you can find your short name Indy discuss general settings lastly configuration variables these Define how discuss behaves on a page and are included with Indy discuss config function the two most important variables you will need to Define are the page URL and identifier what are they well the URL variable is the canonical URL for the page and tells discuss the location
a discussion thread belongs to the identifier is a unique value that discuss uses for identifying the page and the discussion thread we recommend using a unique ID that is unlikely to change in the future as the identifier these two values can be dynamically generated server-side and will vary depending on your platform or CMS here are two examples of how you can configure these two variables in WordPress and HubSpot using functions and predefined variables specific to each CMS okay so let’s add are updated in bed code on to our site now on The discus blog we use HubSpot Hazard CMS let’s jump to the content settings where we can add the embed code directly to our template we want to include it in the blog post footer HTML so that discuss it. At the end of every post
potatoes changes now and head back to our site or back now on The discus blog looks like everything is setup correctly go ahead and post a comment if you like

Bug in the last version In the last version there is a bug. The $DISQUSVERSION argument is set to 3.0.19, but the real version is 3.0.20. These kind of bugs can’t be allowed… Didn’t the developers tested the new version?
too bad it insert affiliate links without you knowing this plugin is great as a commenting system. However, it displays too many ads which is acceptable because it is free plugin. What I do not like is that they hijack your affiliate links and use their own links without you noticing anything. go to google analytic and type in on event type viglink and see how much links are there most of these viglink are affiliate for disqus.
Right after I discovered this, I google it and there are many articels talking about these things and how can they have made too much money by inserting affiliate links using your audience to make money and probably stealing your own affiliate liknks.
TOO BAD I DO NOT RECOMMEND USINGING IT AT ALL.
Spammy ads ! The strategy of showing spammy +18 ads in our websites is too bad.
I was using the plugin since 2017 and it was good, no spammy ads until my website has a good number of visits. Disqus start showing ads. I know it’s the free version of disqus and its written in your policies and term of use. But i think it’s a bad idea, and you gonna lose a lot of users. Good Bye Disqus
settings page is blank trying to edit the settings, but the page is blank. annoying.
edit:
they fixed the bug, works now.
Innappropriate ads If they are forcing ads, they need to monitor these. They’re always inappropriate and spammy, and often disgusting.
Watch out! You will never see your comments again! First of all I would like to say ‘hats down guys’, because you have absolutely KILLED what was once a very decent plugin.
This is a warning for anyone who’s even thinking about switching to this trashy spammy plugin. Not only your comment box will start showing spammy adverts on the top as well as the bottom, but it will be very unlikely that you will ever get your comments back.
Disqus will basically steal all your comments.
Probably like many others, I have let Disqus to run in a background pretty much on autopilot for several years until someone pointed out the spammy ads around the comment box.
Then I realised that Disqus have changed their pricing model and unless you now pay a monthly subscription, your posts will be showing cheap and spammy ads that are absolutely irrelevant to the content.
The ‘Sync’ feature is an absolute joke, and to top this up, I realised that you can only sync comments no older than 12 months. Ridiculous, isn’t it?
So what happens to the rest? What happens to the comments that are older than 12 months and cannot be synced back to WordPress? Unfortunately these are held on your Disqus account by these ‘comment thieves’, and there is absolutely no way to get them back.
It just makes me even question the legality of this plugin.
So in order to try and see what are my options and get some basic support, I had to temporarily sign up for a paid subscription. Support is absolutely useless (awesome job you’re doing there Ryan!) – useless! Takes 4 days on average to have a question answered, and the result?? Cannot help you. Unbelievable!
I understand you guys want to make money somehow, but what you’re doing stinks!
This plugin should no longer be listed on WordPress depository! It’s just a scam.
Too much advertising The displayed advertising is really bad and extremely huge. You are supposed to pay $11/month to not see ads, which as I said are extremely large and contain only clickbait.
Too many ads Too many ads and pricing is only for companies.
Prices not reasonable
After 6 Years, They Messed Everything Up. I have used this plugin for over 6 years. With no ads. Great system.
After I migrated to a new server, all of a sudden I get ads. Now if the ads were good, I wouldn’t mind too much. But the ads are all low quality and scammy.
To upgrade to $11 per month is not worth it if you only get a few comments per month.
When I decided to use WordPress native system, I noticed not all my comments are in my database. Then to realize disqus sneakily disabled importing comments.
I had comments up to 2018, and discus only allows you to import the comments from the last year. Leaving me with 2 years of no comments.
While yes they have an export system, it is pointless as you can not use it.
If they allowed you to import all your comments, then I would not give a 1 star review. They chose to skrew you over, as they can import comments beyond 1 year ago, as you can list the reviews regardless. So it’s just a tactic they use to force you to use their system.
Glad I’m no longer using this.
