hello everyone my name is Nolan liskov I’m the founder CEO and one and only BayCare here no one’s Nana bread no one’s banana bread is a specialty banana bread company located here in Plymouth Massachusetts and we say we create happiness and every day

The Story Goes it was my favorite snack growing up my mother used to make it every Sunday morning and I’d come down the stairs the house will smell like fresh banana bread the best smell ever and I used to always have our at so is my favorite thing growing up I have an older brother and older sister and so whenever they would go to school me and my mom would always have free time together and one of our favorite things to do was too big and so one day she said you want me to teach you how to make a banana bread I do know that was a major yes and then when I go into High School sophomore year I live about 2 minutes up the road and before Sports practices and after school activities all my friends would come back to my house and they would always beg for me to make a banana bread so I started making the banana bread more when I got into high school and then that’s how it kind of got up and running and then I was in the marketing program here at Plymouth North all four years of high school and junior year for Deca I did a startup business

project and so I wrote a business plan I got the value proposition and I just started doing more business work on it that was more of a product now is more of a business and so after I completed my project and I had a a full poster board to guide me I started selling it in the hallways and all the kids loved it all the teachers love that the administration of that and so it really just gave me motivation to keep going and I cannot get enough praise the teachers and the marketing program in general for giving me that that bass and giving me the guide to go where I want to go and make me believe that I can actually do it so now that you know a bit more about how I got my business started I want to share a couple tips to get your own idea up and running

number one is definitely do your research it’s important to get a good read on the market your product or your services and what you’ll be a part of are you selling dog treats find out what kind of trees are best-sellers what makes them so well are you planning on making slime search for the best recipes in the most affordable ingredients so you can minimize your costs while maximizing your profits the more you know about your Market that you’re interested in the more you can learn about the audience are trying to reach helping your business Go Bananas number to is get making whether you have been baking banana bread since you were a kid are looking to make jewelry for the very first time it’s important to know how to turn your ideas into reality the first step to making that happen simple you figure out what supplies you’re going to need and how much it will cost you to purchase once you’ve done that determine the easiest and most cost-effective way to create your product always remember your supply chain is a backbone of your business and if you don’t have the means to acquire that supplies

you won’t have any product same goes for services as prox if you if your coughs and providing your service over with your income your profits will slip number 3 is plan ahead you always want to create a timeline of tasks that you will need to complete before the fair then set dates and times you are going to complete them whether it’s for supplies assembling your product or creating marketing materials that are plenty of moving pieces you will be responsible for prior to the day of the event by making a timeline and sticking to it you’re sure to make that big night goes smoothly and most importantly don’t be afraid to fail all great businesses have to fail things might not always go the way you hope it was but you can’t give up you have teachers and mentors to help you through the process and even though it make it difficult at times trust me it will be worth it

the last thing I want to share is just do what makes you happy you know I find out that my business I knew I didn’t want to take the traditional route and go to college and baking banana bread and bacon and general made me happy. Something that I want to pursue that’s what I said all you guys do something that makes you happy I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with at this year’s children’s business fair and good luck
